# Brigitte Bardot foundation

**With its 57.000 donators, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation is the protector of animal welfare (domestic and wild animals) all over the world.**  
  
The whole story began in 1962, when Brigitte Bardot, a famous young actress at the time, denounced the methods used to kill animals for slaughter. A few years later, she obtained from the government the right for those animals to be stunned before slaughter.  
  
January 1962 : for the first time on television, Brigitte Bardot defends animals for slaughter.

**Brigitte Bardot**,född 1934 i Paris, Frankrike, fransk skådespelerska. 1953 gjorde hon sin första amerikanska film, _Un acte d'amour_, med Kirk Douglas. Mest känd är hon för filmen _Och Gud skapade kvinnan .._1965\. Bardot spelade även in ett flertal skivor under 60-talet.Innan hon fyllde 40 år slutade hon att medverka i filmer. har därefter levt ett tillbakadraget liv för att undvika nyfikna fotografer. Hon dock var mycket aktiv i olika frågor rörande djurrättigheter och grundade en stiftelse i sitt eget namn i syfte att värna om djurens rättigheter.
